"A year or so ago I purchased a set of Titleist AP2 irons and had them custom fitted by Matthew at the Royal Blackheath Golf Club. I am really pleased with them, feel that they are suited to my swing and the custom fitting has improved my ball striking; I hit more consistently out of the sweet spot than I did with my old clubs.

Seeing the benefits of custom fitting my irons I considered this for my woods. On occasion, my drives would be high and to the right and a pro at Gleneagles suggested that my driver was generating too much backspin, so decided to book a custom fitting. Matthew booked a session at the Titleist Fitting centre for me to try the latest drivers and fairway woods. Their measuring equipment indeed identified there was too much backspin and we set about finding a combination of head and shaft that reduced it. I settled on the 909D2 with an Aldila DVS shaft. As well as being straighter and more in control, I have increased my driving distance significantly; their equipment says my carry distance is 9 yards longer (on the course it's more like 20 yards). I was sold and purchased the driver and the fairway wood to go with it.

I have played a number of rounds with the new driver and fairway wood and have hit significantly more fairways than I used to (80% rather than 50%). I am also hitting further with both clubs and our par 5's are now within reach with 2 shots. The fairway wood is also much easier to hit than my previous 3 wood.

 Although now I would recommend custom fitting for all clubs, I think it is imperative for the driver and fairways wood. It has made a significant difference to my game (my last round was my best score ever!) and would highly, highly recommend it."
