Royal Blackheath Golf Club
Dress Code

Royal Blackheath dress codes for visitors and guests ensure that everyone can feel comfortable at all times, both in the Clubhouse and on the Course. At certain times of the day or when specific functions are taking place, some parts of the Clubhouse will have a more restricted code than at other times. When changing your attire, or shoes, please use the changing rooms.

On the Golf Course

For men: shirts should have collars and sleeves and should be worn tucked inside trousers. Tailored shorts may be worn but should not come below the knee.  They should be accompanied by long socks with turnover tops or short white ankle or trainer socks.  For ladies: trousers/capri trousers or tailored shorts/skirts may be worn. Shorts/skirts should not be excessively short or long. Short white ankle or trainer socks can be worn. Golf shoes may have metal or soft spikes.

Examples of inappropriate dress are: rugby shirts, tee shirts, items with external "cargo" pockets, beach shorts, jeans, tracksuits and trainers. Acceptable golf attire is available from the Pro Shop.

In the Clubhouse

Smart casual dress and golfing attire as above may be worn every day until closure unless restricted on a specific occasion or as below. Tailored shorts may be worn in the Clubhouse up until 6.30pm.

Examples of inappropriate dress are: jeans, trainers, tracksuits, tee shirts, sandals, flip flops, dirty or sweaty golf gear, caps, visors, golf shoes, external coats and golf jackets.

Outside the Clubhouse

In the summer, but within reason, a more relaxed approach can be adopted in the patio areas around the clubhouse (eg shorts and sandals).

Specific Restrictions:

The Innes Room (the 19th hole)

Golfing attire may be worn until 10.30am. After 10.30am, men should wear jacket and tie, cravat or roll neck sweater and ladies should wear smart daywear - i.e. dress or skirt/trousers with blouse and jacket. These restrictions apply except when, at the Captain’s or Secretary's discretion, smart casual and golfing attire may be worn, e.g. when the lounge (the Kennard Room) may be overcrowded with a Society group.

The Eagleton Gray Dining Room

Jacket and tie for men and smart daywear for ladies is required at all times. However, smart casual and golfing attire may be worn Monday to Saturday during the day at the Captain's or the Secretary's discretion.

The Glennie & O'Shea function rooms

Smart casual and golfing attire may be worn.
