Today, evidence of our long and fascinating history can be seen and enjoyed by visiting our museum, on the top floor of our Clubhouse, undoubtedly the finest Club Museum in the world. It contains the most astonishing wealth of artifacts, paintings, medals and documents ever collected, including some of the first clubs, balls and scorecards.
The walls are lined with cabinets containing featheries and sepia photographs, gold and silver trophies, old engravings and a silver club originating from 1766. This club and its two successors are bedecked with pendant silver balls, some of them featheries coated in pure silver, each bearing the name of a club captain and his year of office.
The Club Museum houses the oldest golfing medal in the world - The Knuckle Club Medal, now known as the Spring Medal. It has been continuously played for since 1789 and naturally remains the club's most prestigious annual competition.
In the centre of the Museum, in a glass-enclosed bandstand display, is the finest collection of silver trophies you are ever likely to see. This awe-inspiring collection is beyond compare and value. |
